FYI being a indian girl from a conservative indian family sucks big time!!!
seriously!!

1>ME: wanna drive after getting license
Them: No cant, let me drive, its hot/raining/car x in good condition (as if they are expert drivers)/i'm sleepy (more the reasons they shudn't drive)
____insert all imaginable excuses____

2>ME: I wanna go pasar malam
Them: wt for? stay at home. its dark d. errrmmm hello? pasar MALAM??

3>Me: Ok i'll take the car and bring suha along
Them : Wt 4 laa...just stay at home. No need. can go on monday/sat depending on whiich day i asked.

when next mon comes,

4>Me: i'm goin p.malam
Them: *Repeat (2) & (3) again*

5> Me:I'm goin Gentings/Sabah
Them: *grudgingly silent*

6> Me: Can i go Redang?
Them: No its too far (i've been to Sabah!)/ Y u goin out so much (def:more than once a week is too much)?

7> Me: My friends n i goin out mkn at *insert location*
Them: y wanna waste money? nobody's bday stay at home. so if u have 1 friend, u go out 4 dinner only once. im SOOO lucky i have 6 close friends so i get to go out 6 days for dinner..yaaay!!wth?!!

8> Me: lets go holiday/ dinner outside (sin kee x count!)
Them: No can not/ no need ,stay home
wen my dad is around...,
Them: Lets go (said with full force of enthusiasm!)

9> Me: i wanna get my own place after saving up, b independent n make my own decisions etc.
Them: No. no such thing. we'll be alone. but if u get married then u can go (coz then apparently they wont be alone coz i gt married--> I + married = they not alone (does any1 see the logic?? coz i clearly don't)

10> if ur 40/ 50 n u move out OR go for holidays
Them:ok wat...so old d.betta enjoy now ("only" wen ur old can enjoy) no body is gonna rape or murder or kill or rob u betta still no tsunami or accidents can happen to u wen ur old.coz criminals and accidents only lik the young ones

therefore, your guide to knowing an indian family (read: my indian family)

1. u shud just stay at home all the time. if u go out more than once a week...., its whoa! bad!!even if ur bored to death just stay home. good girls x go out.

2. so what if in 4 years of coll u've only been on a trip with ur friends twice. day trip: genting and holiday: Sabah

3. only go on trips if ur dad is there. coz apparently all men we knw are trained in martial arts or some form of combat to keep the bad guys away

4. ladies shud not be outside after dark. esp if u live in gombak and tho ur hse is so freaking close.

5. if ur dad is not around u just stay home 4 all holidays coz its a crime 4 women to go holiday on their own remember?

6. wen e1 else complains their children are irresponsible n feeding off their parents, this ppl are happy to keep u at home n get u married off to the first nice boy that pops. stay at hoem all u want just x go out.

7.neuroticism at its worst. pessimistic, hear motorbike: snatch thief comin.
after 8 doors shud be close. all the what-ifs in the world comes to play.

8. they'll ALWAYS come up with new excuses to keep u at home. wen they alone, x go. if extended family comes, not alone but now its "everyone is here, how can u go out?"

9. they educate u, give u brains to think for yourself and u repay them by being good children who study, gop to coll, fin degree, try findin job, dont do drugs, dont do alcohol, dont do boys....be basically all nice n boring----> BUT they still x trust u. probably they never will. they say they do, but they dont.

10. u can be 30 for god's sake n they'll still treat u lik ur 3. count on it!
